Intricate Deceptions (Intricate, #1) by Jennifer Rayes

I rate this 3. 5 Stars or out of 5 a dark beginning with some serious potential. On the positive side, I can see a different opening for this book perhaps gear more towards "Young Adult" readers, while I am underwhelmed on the writer's decision on using human trafficking to introduce her main character, and I also see her gift for writing romantic plot points and fun characters and action.

Suffering Ends When Awakening Begins by Robert Crown

This memoir and journey to find solace first chapter is a nightmarish roller coaster ride; it is not an easy admission for anyone to talk about a parent attempting to murder their children. I would also add that is not easy for a child to understand the psychosis of a deranged mother and uncaring father, "Suffering Ends When Awakening Begins" by Robert Crown is a testament that many of us would prefer to keep secret and suffer in silence.

A Tongue in the Sink: The Harrowing Adventures of a Baby Boomer Childhood by Dennis Fried, Ph.D.

While we can list all the wrongs of a generation especially "Baby Boomers," some memoirs can fill us with nostalgia and point out experiences we missed out on, "A Tongue in the Sink: The Harrowing Adventures of a Baby Boomer Childhood" by Dennis Fried, Ph.D. is witty, wonderfully written laid-back reading and not dense with a scarred childhood.

Jake, Lucid Dreamer by David J. Naiman

With the loss of a parent I can imagine being devastating for any child, the challenges for Jake in “Jake, Lucid Dreamer by David J. Naiman seems overwhelming for any middle schooler, but Jake is an impressive resilient young man navigating life four years after his mother’s death. David J. Naiman writes vivid dreams and imageries that rounds out the story for enjoyable reading.
